Education - Oswego Schools
Leading our students on the path to high achievement is our primary focus. Academically, our students' test scores continue to rank above the state average, and we are proud that for the second consecutive year, we earned the prestigious Bright Star Award, a recognition labeling us as an Illinois school district with a high level of student performance, despite low per pupil expenditures. In line with District 308's mission, our dedicated and caring teaching staff is passionate about the subject areas they teach, and strongly committed to making a difference in the lives of the students they teach. They work hard to create a challenging educational environment and engage students in learning by incorporating hands-on activities into the curriculum. Our ability to effectively manage growth in our district can be attributed to the generosity of our community who said "Yes to Our Children's Future" in 2002, by approving a $155 million bond issue to build additional schools over a five-year period to meet the needs of our growing student population. As a result of the bond issue, the district's second high school and eight elementary school opened at the start of the 2004-2005 school year. The more you learn about District 308, you'll see why for the 13 th straight year, we received national recognition for offering an education labeled as "What Parents Want."
